Op4am interviews Ian

So here it is, our big surprise for you all to end what we think has been a great,  fun, and fantastic day. You have all been amazing.

Op4am had a chance to interview Ian, and here it is... enjoy

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Crème eggs - how do you eat yours?

(Ian)bite the top off, lick some from the middle, then eat it in bits

Can you cook anything other than dippy eggs?

beans on toast

After the NME online review of T in The Park, over 1,000 fans submitted a comment in response. Did it shock you that so many fans were that willing to express their displeasure at what had been written?

No, I know our fans are amazing, what shocked me was the ignorance and faux elitism of a silly kid reviewer.

Considering you had the biggest crowd at Leeds Festival this year, but were not the 'biggest' headlining act for the Friday, and you knocked Keane off the number one spot, yet they get more radio airplay, do you feel your popularity is sometimes understated and undermined by the mainstream media?

Very much so

What's your favourite hatchback?

Golf GTI MK1

Your tour bus clocked a lot of miles with LT, can we expect a similar amount of touring with Album 4? Will you stay in arenas now, or do a theatre tour, or both, as with LT?

Hopefully even more touring, as for venues, who knows.

Merchandise next tour - can we see lostprophets trainers and trackie bottoms?

We have trainers already. Limited edition Nike Lo Top Terminators.

How are you coming up with the cover art for album 4? Will you and Jamie take weeks to come up with an idea or have you known for months what you want to do for it?

Ive known what its gonna be before we started writing

When you play festivals/shows with bigger bands, do you get ideas from them on how to make lostprophets bigger?

Not really, sometimes they will have cool lighting ideas, but thats about it

You quoted Duran Duran as one of the influences for LT. What are your musical influences for album 4?

Praga Kahn and An Albatross

Paul Weller grew up in Woking, did that influence you to write LT there?

Nope.

Did any of you attend Cefn Hengoed school in Trallwn? (This may or may not be part of a cunning plan by Louise to find out how old you really are)

No

If there was ever a biographical film of lostprophets, who would you want to play each band member (actors/actresses living or dead)?

Johnny Depp playing everyone

Can you exclusively tell us a track title from the next album, and maybe even a description of the song?

Its not the end of the world, but i can see it from here. Apocalyptic, like an audio disaster movie

A number of fans have expressed concern that your UK label, by it's inherent size, may be limiting your growth as a band – they helped get you where you are today, but to what extent do think you're paying a price for loyalty, if at all?

Its not loyalty, its contractual

If you were to have a sandwich dedicated to you, what would be in it and what would it be called?

Ians Sandwich, sausages and ketchup

To what extent do you think unofficial fan groups and forums similar to Operation 4am and Megalolz.com, can contribute to a band's success compared to formal marketing - billboards, newspaper adverts etc…

They are the core of what helps us carry on

Should Jaffa Cakes be limited to Orange flavour?

Absolutely

(2-Part Question)
You don't often seem to have that high opinion of the more 'obvious' songs, how does it make you feel, that the songs you seem to feel are your weakest are the best received?

As long as people like something its flattering

Do you think fans that like the more 'obvious' songs could be insulted that you don't like them as much?

Everyone has different opinions, obviously i like them or i wouldnt have written them.

If you could give everyone who reads this interview one piece of advice what would it be?

fuck em if they cant take a joke

What's the worst rumour/press you've ever heard or read about yourself? (excluding your death on Wikipedia!)

dunno, i dont really care

Given the opportunity, would you ever consider having your own TV series? More like The Monkees did, than S Club 7.

Maybe, maybe not

'War of the Worlds' was a bit of a letdown for you, what did you think of 'Transformers', was it as good as you expected it to be?

I thought the cgi was incredible, didnt care that much for the humans in it but overall it was an amazing action piece and was as faithful as you could feasibly be, in this day and age

If you were on 'Celebrity Death Match' who would you be up against and why?

the world, because people are dumb

Will you ever cover a Girls Aloud track?

no

What question do you not want to be asked ever again?

what was the inspirations behind rooftops

You've said in the past that you're not so keen on the majority of your videos. If money were no object, what would you love to do for a music video?

bad boys 3

Now that you've finished touring LT, can you reveal what your plans were for the 'Rooftops Trilogy' of videos that never happened?

yep

Will you have more money and more freedom this time round to shoot?

nope

Can we direct a video?

nope

Would you do another interview for us after you've released the next album (maybe on film? Maybe with pretty pictures?)?

certainly

So you actually think this is good?

yes.

X

Thank You

anytime. x

—————————————————————————————–

A BIG BIG thank you to Ian for taking time to answer the questions, we know you are busy and we really appreciate it.
And a BIG thankyou to Edwin for organising the interview and askign the questions.

Thanks to both of you xxx

Messges to Lostprophets from their friends (part 2- including a video from The blackout)

We have a fab video message from The Blackout Boys (you will need to turn your speakers up though for this video)

http://www.youtube.com/v/O5606Ok7MjE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Julie Weir:

“As the person who has worked with the band the longest out of all of the people in their team, I just want to say it has been a great experience to be a part of it all to date. I have seen the band go from playing in front of 10 people in the old Barfly at the Falcon in Camden to selling out Wembley Arena and having a No1 Album and top 10 singles. And they still have time for EVERYONE on top of this. An all round hardworking, intelligent and lovely bunch of lads.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And last but by no means least, Bori Mischief of Modern Mischief Clothing. We actually sent him some questions and here are his responses

* How do you know the guys?
I met Ian in California through my friend Steven back in 2000 and then randomly re-met him a couple years later. I forget the details, but I’m sure it was amazing love.
* How have they helped you?
They gave me extreme exposure. I owe em fooorrreeeevveerrrrr and a little more after that
* Whats your best memory of the guys?
Eating Chicken Tikka Masala that tasted like pumpkins in San Francisco and some sentimental things that I can’t say without shedding massive amounts of tears.
* Tell us a secret that you think the world needs to know about Ian and the guys?
I don’t think there are any secretes thanks to the tabloids.
* Would you ever get up on stage and sing with the guys?
Only if my falsettos were in tune.
* What inspired you to start your business?
Kids who wore awful clothing and me mum
* Whats the deal behind the name?
Its all about fun kind trouble
* Tell us a bit about what you do?
I design clothes, I take photos, I am a Z list actor.
* If you were organising a fashion show to show off your latest designs, what music would you chose?
Gallows and Mellowdrone
* If you could pick anyone to model on the catwalk who would you ask?
My Dad Misha, Ryan Gosling, Natalie Portman, Shannon Sossamon, Whoopie Goldberg, Shaq, Gogol Bordello and some others. Oh and of course the guy that played Pee Wee Herman. I wonder what his name was…
*Ian Watkins did graphic design..would you ever ask him to be a guest designer, would you ever design a Lostprophets t-shirt?
Yeah that would be rad, but hes to busy being extravagantly handsome.
* What should the people of the world know about you?
My mom Olga is way better at breaking locks with crowbars then I am.
* Is there anything else you would like to add?
Green Tea makes me go crazy and Modern Mischief Season 2 coming SUMMER 2008!!! YOW!!!
* Do you have any message for the guys on International Lostprophets Day?
Is there really an International Lostprophets day? I want an International Bori Mischief day… Hmmm. My message is: Ian next time I’m in LA stop flaking on me for Matt Damon. I know he’s charismatic and charming, but I miss you.

Messges to Lostprophets from their friends (part 1)

As part of our celebrations for International Lostprophets Day, we thought it would be a nice idea to ask those who had either worked with or been influenced by Lostprophets for a few words about the band.

Here’s what some of them had to say!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Said Mike:

“Lostprophets have been very inspirational to us as they have given us hope that if we tour our arses off like they did, it could potentially pay off one day.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Miss Conduct:

“We remember them playing small pubs in our area , performing to like 10 people . So to play with Ian and the boy’s at the fullponty this year and them having the headline slot in their hometown of 10, 000 odd must have been amazing for him and the rest of the guys!!! it was also nice for us to be on the same label and we hope to do more in the future with the boyo’s!!!!!”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New 1920:

“ever since we were in prison with the guys they’ve always looked out for us. shower and recreational times were awesome and we’d always spot each other in the gym!!
seriously…..a lot of bands have the lostprophets to thank for allowing them to jump on shows and play to their extensive and adoring audience!! they have always used their own success to support smaller welsh bands and given them an opportunity to play in venues they may never play again or just to a large crowd of people who will perhaps become fans of theirs in the future aswell. no matter where they’ve moved to they never have and never will forget their roots (hair include). thats something to admire!
i once actually got to touch ian watkins. well actually we were passing each other backstage and he must’ve thought i was some meet and greet floozy because he just signed my face and spat on my chest. it was a very cool moment.”

col francies (the new 1920)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Full Ponty Team:

“The Welsh are a truly patriotic people and The Full Ponty is a truly Welsh event. It sits proudly in the heartland of the South Wales Valleys, extending a welcoming hand to those from afar. 2007 saw us welcome home a band who truly represents what Welsh Patriotism should embody.

Apart from being an amazing band, the help and dedication they provided in the run up to the event was invaluable. The fact that they turned up to play with other bands and watch the other shows that were part of The Full Ponty Fringe Festival in the week proceeding the big day in the park shows how much they embraced the event. On Saturday the 26th of May 2007, Pontypridd embraced them back.

To bring Lostprophets home to their roots and watch them capture the imagination of 10,000 screaming fans was the pinnacle of The Full Ponty Festival’s brief but proud history.

Keep doing us all proud boys.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 2 coming soon.

And dont forget make sure you have downloaded LAST SUMMER, as we "try" to get it back in the charts..xxx
