operation4am at the glasgow garage gig

Here is a gig report from one of the op4am girls who was at the Glasgow Garage gig, complete with pictures for you all to read....

So it all started for me at about 9.30am the morning of Friday 6th July, by catching my first train of the day, ready for my 7 and a half hour journey to Glasgow. The biggest journey I have ever undertaken by myself, I'd had a moment of unhinged madness and decided that going to Glasgow to see the boys was actually the best idea in the world. Eventually at 5pm I rolled (literatly) up into Glasgow (very slightly intoxicated due to me and my new friend I made on the train discovering that certain beverages were served on the train - result). Next stop was the grotty travelodge to meet the other op4am girls, before heading up to the Garage.

We found our dear Op4am Edwin  in the queue who had managed to earlier snare/bribe/blackmail a certain Mr Watkins to get him to sign an op4am flyer and have his picture taken with it (you can see the pics on and earlier blog). Being under the influence of the bad stuff, I may have slightly pissed off a few people as once I had jumped the queue (something I have never ever done before) I decided I wasnt going to move, or at least my feet decided they werent. So big apologies to all pissed of people, but I promise you all once we got into the venue we didnt go straight in and we didnt go straight to the front. But we did manage to get a nice spot to the left of the stage in front of Jamie's keyboards, ready to get some nice pictures for everyone to enjoy afterwards.

So first up we had The Yashin, as the support band. They did a good job and the crowd responded well to them. you can find out more about them here
http://www.myspace.com/theyashin

While we were waiting for lostprophets to come on, we had quite a lot of chants of "prophets, prophets" , and the crowd were raring to go. I took a few random crowd shots, so if you went you may see yourselves there

We did a sneaky aswell while waiting and zoomed in on the set list. We all screamed like banshee's when we realised that "Felon" was down on the setlist. We frantically texted the interactive thread that was happening over on megalolz.com, while trying to keep our cool. One of the op4am girls actually managed to get the setlist afterwards through immense fluttering her eyelashes.

We all had heard the name of the song, but now we knew it actually existed. After what seemed a lifetime, we finally got our "prophets". It was party time.

So what can I say, while it wasnt the best I've ever seen the boys play, it was a fantastic gig, and the atmosphere was great. Highlights include.. Ian proving he has a big mouth and managing to splutter everyone with water from his mouth.. the whole of the front row. It was one of those surreal, "did he really do that, and OMG i have his splutter on me" moments. The boys also seemed to be having a slight problem with the fact they all seemed to be giggling like little school girls. Jamie had several proposals of marriage and Ilan had offers to have his babies . Ian wore a rather fetching scarf that i think was thrown on the stage (not as fetching as the feather boas that Gerad Way has been seen wearing on stage)....

When they played Next Stop Atrocity, it was obvious by the people around me that everyone has learnt the words, that got a good reception. Felon was good, but unfortunately people didnt get into it as much as I thought they would. I did manage to film the song, but there are much much better versions on youtube (or megalolz.com). Looks like the new album is going to have quite a diverse range of songs on it.
The boys had a group hug (or were planning dinner) I think it was just before Burn Burn, it was a touching moment and brought a tear to my eye (mind you that could have been an elbow to blame for that)..

All the usual songs went down well, and it was nice we had Shinobi and FSOP to please the old school crowd, and plenty from SS and LT. So I think everuone was happy.
Then it ended, and that was the end of that. The gig seemed over and done with so quickly. But I think the boys were definately warmed up for TITP.

I forgot to mention... we had operation4am t-shirts on, especially for the occasion. Here are some of our models we paid to wear them, poor things...

One of our girls made it the barrier and waved a spare t-shirt around and we think it may have been spotted. Our mission later was to actually present the boys with a t-shirt. Some bouncer type bloke promised he would pass it, but we have the feeling it may well be being used as a rag to clean windows

So anyway for the first time ever for me, we all waited around afterwards hoping the boys would come out, but they didnt . But there were quite a big group of us, and it was great company. It was great meeting new people and it was nice that people were able to come up to us op4am lot and say hi. So if you see any of us at the astoria gig next month, dont be scared of us, come and say hello.

anyway here is couple more pics and one group picture of all us insane lot.

thanks for reading

PS: We have an operation4am webbie coming very soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that xxx

NME.com review - lostprophets at T in the park

The boys have just bulletined and blogged this on myspace ...

here is Barry's review of our show at T in the Park. I dont think he like us. Saying that though, i dont think he even knew who we were, seeing as we didnt even play one of our apparent 'highlights'. He likes indie bands and seemingly, baby blue cardigans though, so he must be really cool.

You can comment on his fantastic review here:

http://www.nme.com/blog/index.php?blog=54&blog=54&title=title_176&page=1&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1&disp=single

speak your minds.

So go forth all of you and let rip at this Barry, and tell him what you are thinking.
